Recommended feeds and speeds
Rensaw feeds and speeds are recommendations for ideal cutting conditions. Blade speed can be calculated using the following formula:
Speed (m/min) = 3.14 x Ø x N / 1000
To optimize the cutting process, both blade and feed speeds should be controlled as closely as possible. If the blade speed is too high in relation to the feed speed there is more of a rubbing than a cutting action on the blade and the teeth tend to overheat and wear quickly. If the blade feed speed is high in relation to the rotational speed there may not be enough time to ensure correct chip evacuation, which may result in blade breakage.
Where conditions are unknown it is better to err on the side of caution, cheaper to sharpen a blade than replace it.
